The Ontario Photonics Industry Network (OPIN) is an incorporated, non-for-profit, industry led network, funded under the Ontario Government – Ministry of Research and Innovation (MRI) – Ontario Research Commercialization Program (ORCP). Established in 2007 OPIN was a joint initiative between the two lead photonics organizations in Ontario: The Ontario Photonics Technology Industry Cluster (OPTIC) located in the London / Toronto / Markham area and The Ottawa Photonics Cluster (OPC) located in the Ottawa region.

 

 

The OPIN vision is to become a sustainable, integrated, industry-led network of photonics-related people, companies and organizations in Ontario that interact closely, share ideas and expertise within and across academic/industry boundaries and strive for mutual success.

 

 

The OPIN mission is to:

 

–        Drive commercialization of photonics-related technology

 

–        Promote interaction between industry and academia

 

–        Foster development of new photonics-related companies

 

–        Facilitate business growth in photonics

 

–        Facilitate access to resources

 

 

Membership to OPIN is available to all Ontario companies, institutions and individuals interested or engaged in the development, use and marketing of photonics-related technologies.
